Usually the three original documents required for imported vehicles are as follows:
- Proof of ownership in the previous country or D-Reg Certificate (if imported)
- Bill of sale / receipt of purchase (if imported)
- Bill of lading (supplied by your shipping agency if imported)
Usually the documents required for lapsed NZ registered vehicles are as follows:
- Proof of ownership (or Statutory Declaration)
- Proof of identification (copy of driver’s license/passport in owner’s name)
How does the compliance process work?
You will need to supply VTNZ Rangiora with all the appropriate documentation. Upon notification that all documentation is supplied, you can then book your vehicle with Auto Super Shoppe Rangiora.
Once we receive your vehicle, we disassemble your vehicle determined by the age of your vehicle. VTNZ Rangiora will then inspect your vehicle and once inspection is complete and your vehicle has passed we will reassemble your vehicle. VTNZ Rangiora can then issue the Warrant Of Fitness sticker & a document called “MR2A”. This document is what you need to purchase your Plates & Vehicle Registration. You can purchase your plates & registration from VTNZ Rangiora.
If your vehicle does not pass the Compliance inspection we have technicians on site to carry out any mechanical repairs. We can also direct you to a certified repairer for rust or repair if required.
How long does the compliance process take?
After VTNZ Rangiora has received your correct documentation we can then book and receive your vehicle. We endeavor to processes a compliance within a week, however VTNZ time restraints may extend this.
How much does compliance inspection cost?
Our Certification Inspection costs depend on the level of disassembly required based on the age of the vehicle and VTNZ requirements surrounding importing and re-registration criteria.
